Garages

What we do to your garage floor

A garage floor coating from Comer & Cross is five steps in one day. We diamond-grind the slab to open the pores, repair every crack and pit, roll on a flexible polyurea basecoat that bonds into the concrete, broadcast decorative flake to full coverage, and seal it with a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat that resists hot-tire pickup, road salt and oil. That is America’s Strongest Coating Process, and it is why the floor outlasts epoxy. We’ve installed 10+ Million square feet of it across Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Georgia.

A sealed floor means a cleaner garage and a cleaner house.

Brighter space

Light flake blends bounce light and make a 2-car garage feel bigger.

The system

America’s Strongest Coating Process: four layers, built to outlast epoxy

Each layer bonds to the one below and cures in hours. Polyurea underneath for strength and flex, polyaspartic on top for UV and chemical resistance. Together they make America’s Strongest Coating Process, built to outlast ordinary epoxy.

Diagram of the Comer & Cross coating system: concrete, polyurea basecoat, decorative flake and polyaspartic topcoat
  1. Polyaspartic topcoatThe clear, UV-stable finishing layer. Locks in the flake, resists chemicals and hot-tire pickup, and wipes clean.
  2. Decorative flakeBroadcast to full coverage while the base is wet. 16 blended colors; adds texture and slip resistance.
  3. Polyurea basecoatThe structural layer. Flexible and high-adhesion, built to outlast epoxy, so it will not peel or crack with your concrete.
  4. Prepared concreteDiamond-grind profiling plus crack and pit repair. It’s the step DIY kits skip and the reason our floors last.

Versus epoxy

America’s Strongest Coating Process vs. epoxy

Epoxy is a rigid resin that sits on top of the concrete. It cures over several days, yellows in sunlight and lets go at the hot-tire spots, which is why most epoxy garage floors are re-done or torn out within a few years. Our process starts below the surface: diamond grinding opens the slab so a flexible polyurea basecoat can bond into it and move with it through every freeze-thaw cycle. The polyaspartic topcoat is UV-stable and resists hot tires, salt and chemicals. No epoxy anywhere in the system.

Cost

Garage floor coating cost

The price of a garage floor coating depends on the square footage, the condition of the concrete and whether an old coating has to come off. We quote every floor in person after a free 30 to 60 minute visit, and the written quote is good for a year. Over ten years, a one-day professional coating is usually cheaper than an epoxy floor that has to be redone.

Just had our garage done and I absolutely love their work! The workers were professional and thorough, and the price was fair with top quality. After searching many other companies, this proved to be the best decision. Will definitely be recommending them to family and friends!

Reasonable price. Jake Rieger and Ben Clark did a wonderful job on our garage, driveway, porch and sidewalk, about 1,500 sq. ft., all in two days. They worked over 12 hours yesterday. We couldn't be happier with the end results. I highly recommend this company and especially these two guys.

My garage floor was heavily damaged and stained. Comer & Cross did a great job. I was extremely happy with the final product. Of course I drifted by every half hour or so to see what was going on. The employees were happy to answer all my questions and explain what they were doing. From pitted to perfect in 1 day. They truly did. 10 out of 10.

Good questions

Garage coating FAQs

How long before I can park on my new garage floor?

You can walk on it the same evening and park on it after 24–48 hours, depending on temperature.

Can you coat a garage with cracks or pitting?

Yes. Crack and pit repair is part of every install. We grind, fill and profile the slab before the basecoat goes down.

Do I need to clear the garage?

Yes, the floor needs to be empty. Ask about our free item-moving service for standard residential items.

How thick is the coating?

The full polyurea + flake + polyaspartic system is roughly 20–25 mils, several times thicker than a DIY epoxy kit.

Can my floor really be coated in one day?

Yes, for most garages, basements and patios. The crew grinds, repairs and coats in one visit because polyurea and polyaspartic cure in hours. You can walk on it that evening and park on it after 24 to 48 hours.

How much does a garage floor coating cost?

It depends on the square footage, the shape the concrete is in and whether an old coating has to come off. We don’t guess over the phone. A free in-home visit takes 30 to 60 minutes, and you get a written quote that’s good for a year. See what drives garage floor coating cost.
